Meet Semonna
I am a wife to my incredible husband Jared, and mother of two amazing boys, Isaac and Benjamin. We currently live in Michigan with our golden retriever Millie Grace.
My path to becoming a doula was a little more unconventional some would say. I began my journey as an eager student ready to change the world. I graduated from Michigan State University in 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication, and then in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Oakland University’s Accelerated Second Degree Nursing program. I began working at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor Michigan and had the privilege of helping countless families bring babies into the world while there.
Recently, I decided to leave the hospital setting to become a birth worker in another capacity. I completed my Postpartum and infant care training with ProDoula in 2022.
My passion for moms and babies really blossomed at the Von Voigtlander Women’s Hospital in Ann Arbor. It was incredible being able to help so many moms and babies from so many different cultures and communities. It wasn’t until my own postpartum experience with my second son that I realized the need for additional maternal resources. This truly sparked my postpartum doula journey.
